A private assistant that lives at home
I'm Jason Bellows, in Utah. I'm building Alfred, a personal assistant that runs on a Mac mini in my own house.
What it is
Alfred is my own assistant. I use it every day for small things: lists, reminders, notes, and questions about my schedule.
I talk to it in a few ways:
- By voice.
- Through a private chat page that only my own devices can reach.
- On Telegram.
- Soon, by text message and phone call.
Why it runs at home
Alfred keeps its messages and memories on my own computer, not in someone else's cloud account. It uses AI model services to understand and answer messages, and phone and chat services to carry them. I don't give my data to Google, Meta or X to run it.
It's a work in progress. Some parts are rough, and some are still being built.
Who it's for
Right now, it's just for me. It is not a product and is not offered to the public. Now and then I show a guest a short, read-only preview of it, if they ask.
Later, I may offer something like it to others, such as small businesses or a few testers using a trial Mac mini. If that happens, I'll say so here first, with clear terms.
Stay in touch
If you'd like to hear if this opens up to testers, email hello@jasonbellows.com. I'll only use your email to reply, and to let you know if testing opens.
